About the Fly-in - June 9 & 10 at North Weald

Air-Britain's Fly-In is the longest established UK Fly-In organised independently by and for aviation enthusiasts. It aims to

2012 is our 33rd Air-Britain Fly-In and we were pleased to be able to hold it again with the support of The Squadron at North Weald Airfield. Each year we mark appropriate aviation milestones to support the event’s “Classic” theme. In 2012 we are marking the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the Piper J3 Cub and 20 years of the Aeronca Club of GB which was formed at an Air-Britain Flying at White Waltham.

As the 80th anniversary of the formation of Percival Aircraft approaches Air-Britain will be launching at the Fly-In a new book (Author Rod Simpson) on the definitive history of Percival Aircraft. To support this launch we have invited all airworthy Percival aircraft (in Europe) to join us at North Weald. In addition we are working with working with Weald Aviation and Kennet Aviation to have a line up of Provosts and possibly a flypast of Jet Provosts too. Further details about the new book will be available shortly.

All aircraft are welcome and we expect in excess of over 150 aircraft to visit us over the weekend (weather permitting), so there will be a good diversity of aeroplanes to see. We hope particularly that many Piper Cubs (all derivatives) and Aeronca aircraft will join us to mark their respective anniversaries. Adding to the visiting aircraft there will of course be activity during the weekend from some of North Weald’s resident aircraft, which include the famous Spitfire, Hurricane, Mustang and Skyraider aircraft.

Our Fly-In has established a reputation for being a friendly event that brings together those interested in aviation to exchange experiences, share knowledge or just relax in a sociable aviation environment. As usual, we will be offering our traditional friendly hospitality for both days and a variety of trade and exhibition stands. Catering and basic overnight camping facilities will be available. This year the event will again be supporting fundraising for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, who operate their helicopters from North Weald.
